A Mathematical Diet Model
Toumasis, Charalampos
Teaching Mathematics and Its Applications: An International Journal of the IMA, v23 n4 p165-171 Dec 2004
Emphasis on problem solving and mathematical modeling has gained considerable attention in the last few years. Connecting mathematics to other subjects and to the real world outside the classroom has received increased attention in mathematics programs. This article describes an application of simple differential equations in the field of dietetics as it may be presented to a calculus class or a high school mathematics club. The problem arose as a natural question about life and a mathematical model was developed to give a reasonable solution to this.
