A Controlled Study to Assess the Clinical Efficacy of Totally Self-Administered Systematic Desensitization
Rosen, Gerald M.; And Others
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 44, 2, 208-216, Apr 76
Highly anxious self-referred snake phobics received either (a) therapist-administered desensitization, (b) self-administered desensitization with weekly therapist phone calls, (c) totally self-administered desensitization, (d) self-administered double-blind placebo control, or (e) no treatment. Pretreatment to posttreatment measures revealed significant differences between desensitization and control subjects. The present study provides support for the clinical efficacy of self-administered desensitization. (Author)
