Negotiating the Margins: Some Principles of Responding to Our Students' Writing, Some Strategies for Helping Students Read Our Comments.
Hodges, Elizabeth
New Directions for Teaching and Learning, n69 p77-89 Spr 1997
The margins of college students' writing are the ideal site for teacher-student conversations about the writing, but most of these conversations misfire, largely for reasons that are avoidable. Suggestions are made for responding so students can understand, respond to, and learn from teachers' written comments. Examples from several teacher-student interactions are offered. (Author/MSE)
