The evaluation of a credit-noncredit course on widowhood is described. Principles for gerontological education were derived: (1) heterogeneity in student backgrounds may be an asset; (2) intergenerational teaching can be highly effective; and (3) amelioration of stresses ensuing in life crises and preparation for those crises are compatible goals.
