A sample of 15,686 students in grades 6 through 10 in public and private schools completed a self-report survey in 1998 of weapon carrying, weapon carrying in school, physical fighting, and being injured in a physical fight. Involvement ranged from 13 percent to 23 percent of boys and 4 percent to 11 percent of girls. Concludes bullying is a marker for more serious violent behaviors. (Contains 27 references.)(Author/MLF)
