CDA (Child Development Associate) Instructional Materials. Training Counselor's Guide for CDA Instructional Materials. Recommended Answers to the Tests for CDA Competencies (Experimental Edition). Book 8.
Carroll, E. Caroline, Ed.; And Others
This guide was designed to familiarize the training counselor for the Child Development Associate (CDA) program with the background and goals of the CDA program and with the CDA Instructional Materials. Suggestions for using the Instructional Materials with the trainee are emphasized. The guide is written in four sections. The first section contains some details of the CDA program, a discussion of the role and responsibilities of the training counselor, and suggestions for working with trainees. The second section provides evaluation guides for each of the 27 instructional modules included in the program. These guides are designed to help the counselor assess trainee competency in each of the six competency areas needed for credentialling. (These competencies focus on the learning environment, physical and intellectual development, self-concept, child-staff interaction, home-center relationships, and supplementary staff responsibilities.) The third section of the guide describes additional resources for trainees and counselors. The final section is an appendix which includes recordkeeping samples and a checklist for counselor self-evaluation. (Author/BD)
