This article reviews studies focusing on the psychological aspects and problems of renal disease. Findings suggest that disabled individuals do not become emotionally disturbed by their disability but by beliefs about their disability, opinions about the treatment, and events subsequent to their disability. Use of rational counseling techniques is presented. (Author)
