Theatre of the Oppressed in French as a Second Language
Thibault, Laurence V.
Language and Intercultural Communication, v20 n4 p312-324 2020
This article presents a personal reflection on the potential for the techniques of the Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) to help French as a Second Language (FSL) university students develop communicative and intercultural competence in Ontario, Canada. The literature review underlines the benefits of learning through drama and theatre and connects the concept of social agent in language learning with that of agent of social change in theatre. After a description of the techniques of the TO, I reflect on how these techniques might be integrated to FSL teaching.
