Taking on the Teacher Supply and Retention Challenge: A Performance Focused Model for School-University Partnerships
Martin, Dorian; Reeves, William E.; Wilson, Eric; O'Dell, Lisa; Egan, Toby Marshall
Online Submission, Paper presented at the Academy of Human Resource Development International Conference (AHRD) (Austin, TX, Mar 3-7, 2004) p711-718 (Symp. 33-3)
In this case study, we describe a strategic initiative that partnered public schools with the fifth largest land-grant university system in the United States to improve statewide recruitment, training, hiring, and retention of K-12 teachers. This effort sought parallel implementation among nine university system institutions in partnership with community colleges and public schools statewide. Related school-university partnership and organizational alignment literature is explored along with the model deployed and current descriptive performance measures. (Contains 2 tables and 1 figure.)
