Teaching as a Profession and as a Career: Minority Candidates' Perspectives.
Su, Zhixin
Teaching and Teacher Education, v13 n3 p325-40 Apr 1997
This study examined minority and mainstream teacher candidates' views on teaching as a profession and career. Interviews and surveys indicated that both groups were concerned with professional status, proud of becoming teachers, and worried about teaching conditions. Minority students were more affected by the low professional status of teaching in making career decisions. (SM)
