Structural Invariance in the Associations of Naming Speed, Phonological Awareness, and Verbal Reasoning in Good and Poor Readers: A Test of the Double Deficit Hypothesis.
McBride-Chang, Catherine; Manis, Franklin R.
Reading and Writing: An Interdisciplinary Journal, v8 n4 p323-39 Aug 1996
Examines associations of multiple measures of naming speed, phonological awareness, and verbal intelligence with word reading in poor readers and good readers. Reveals that for poor readers naming speed and phonological awareness were associated with word reading, but not verbal intelligence--for good readers, phonological awareness and verbal intelligence were associated with word reading, but not naming speed.
