Responses from 612 rural Pennsylvania high school students indicated that 62.6% of the females and 48.5% of the males planned college prep enrollment. Most of their parents had high school education or less. The influence of background and local labor market on occupational self-concept and unrealistic expectations for occupation and salary was demonstrated. (SK)
