Peeck, J.; Tillema, H. H. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1978
Subjects were immediately tested on a reading passage, and received feedback after 30 minutes or one day, or no feedback. After a week, subjects identified their original responses to three types of test items. One-day delay of feedback gave better results than the 30-minute delay. (GDC)

Austin-Martin, George G. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1979
The effects of student teaching and the pretesting of attitudes on student teachers' attitudes were studied. Results suggested that pretesting of attitudes was detrimental to attitude improvement. Appropriate designs for assessing changes in attitudes were discussed. (Author/MH)

Kulhavy, Raymond W.; And Others – Contemporary Educational Psychology, 1990
Assumptions of a servocontrol model of test item feedback were tested in a study of 94 junior and senior high school students receiving feedback or no feedback with 2 retention intervals. Results support the assumption that response certitude is related to the learner's ability to comprehend a given item. (SLD)

Marin, Gerardo; And Others – Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, 1992
Studies response style characteristics among 1,908 Hispanic Americans and 14,425 non-Hispanic whites in 4 studies. Hispanic Americans prefer extreme responses on rating scales more than do non-Hispanic Americans. Hispanic Americans are more likely to agree with a given item. Results are discussed in the contexts of acculturation and education.…

Holden, Ronald R. – 1993
Recently, there has been a resurgence of interest in the use of response latencies in psychological assessment. Some research has suggested that response times associated with answering personality and integrity questionnaires may be useful in differentiating among honest responders and individuals who are lying. Using an experimental paradigm…

Zwick, Rebecca – 1986
Although perfectly scalable items rarely occur in practice, Guttman's concept of a scale has proved to be valuable to the development of measurement theory. If the score distribution is uniform and there is an equal number of items at each difficulty level, both the elements and the eigenvalues of the Pearson correlation matrix of dichotomous…

Matter, M. Kevin – 1986
The beneficial effects of changing an answer on a multiple choice test were examined for elementary school students, with particular emphasis on the answer-changing behavior of minority versus non-minority groups and high-income versus low-income students. Test booklets from students in grade 2 and answer sheets from students in grades 4, 6, and 8…

Paulson, James A. – 1985
This paper discusses the use of latent class structure as a modelling framework for tests in which much of the data conforms to a relatively small number of systematic patterns. Application of this framework to the analysis of tests has been limited because available parameter estimation algorithms can only handle a relatively small number of…

Braverman, Marc – 1986
the factors which maximize response rates, both through reducing refusals and increasing the probability that respondents will be available for interview, were studied in rural California.
