This unit, intended for grades four and five, focuses on houses and how they have influenced man and how man has influenced them. Among the 14 concepts discussed are the history of homes, home and the environment, homes and heritage, homes and human needs, the design of homes and available land. Besides the concepts, the unit includes behavioral objectives identified by concept, a pre- and post-test, teacher background information, and a suggested instructional sequence which includes a variety of related activities.
