This study examined the experience of relocating to the United States for a select group of students, third culture kids (TCKs), so the factors that may assist higher education professionals as they seek to support these students in their personal development through their college years would be understood. The research question used to drive the study was: What are the lived experiences of TCKs as they relocate between their home culture, that cultural setting where the individual feels most comfortable, and the cultural setting of the United States and their college of choice? Ten students were interviewed, 5 each from 2 Southern California universities. Each student was interviewed 3 times. The students chosen to be interviewed were juniors and seniors in college so that a space of time between when the student relocated and when the students were interviewed had occurred, a space of time that allowed a completion of their transition experience and a time for reflection.
