This "They" Believe: Young Adolescents Reveal Their Needs in School
Booth, Margaret Zoller
Middle School Journal (J3), v42 n3 p16-23 Jan 2011
Middle grades students expressed their opinions about school during unstructured interviews which were part of a longitudinal mixed methods study. Four major needs emerged as prominent themes during these interviews, including: physical, safety, academic, and esteem needs. The author discusses findings related to these themes using the students' own words, and includes implications of these findings for middle grades educators.
