This resource manual is designed to assist both the beginning cooperative office education (COE) teacher-coordinator in developing a new COE program and the experienced teacher-coordinator in reviewing and upgrading established programs. It can also be used as a resource for administrators. Unit I defines goals, determines the need for a COE program, and lists advantages and instructional objectives for beginning a program. Unit II deals with the teacher-coordinator's responsibilities. This section includes the three integral parts of the cooperative program--recruitment, placement, and supervision. Unit III suggests activities for the related class and provides a sample topical outline. Unit IV defines the nature and functions of the advisory council and indicates the steps in its formation and operation. Unit V provides information on public relations. Activities are described, and a calendar is suggested. Unit VI includes procedures and forms for followup and evaluation. Appendixes, amounting to approximately two-thirds of the manual, include fact sheets; informative materials; and sample materials such as surveys, evaluation sheets, brochures, agreements, and letters. Other contents include a glossary, bibliography, and a listing of additional resources. (YLB)
