Examined the effects of social resources and health on the life satisfaction of 330 Black and White aged residents of age-integrated housing. Results questioned previous conclusions that age-segregation is conducive to greater life satisfaction. Findings indicated social integration influences the life satisfaction of Blacks more than Whites. (JAC)

Explored the rate of alcohol and drug abuse among female and male adolescents (N=123) in public housing communities and examined risk factors leading to substance abuse. Fear of crime was central in determining psychological well-being. Crime-related variables were minimally related to size of social space and activity outside the housing site.
