Johnson, James H.; Farrell, Walter C.; Stoloff, Jennifer A.
Urban Affairs, v35 n5 p695-716 May 2000
Used the Los Angeles Survey of Urban Inequality to test the utility of four perspectives for explaining declining social and economic fortunes among African American males. Researchers focused on determinants of labor force participation and compared African American males' experiences with those of white and Hispanic males. Results highlighted the devastating effect of systemic discrimination and stereotyping. (SM)
