Information on current fund revenues and cost per student in New York State is presented for private colleges, State University of New York institutions, City University of New York institutions, and degree-granting proprietary colleges. A general overview of state fiscal support for postsecondary education is provided, along with data on total state support during 1980-1985 in total dollars, and as a proportion of total state revenues. Also considered are state funds that go directly to either postsecondary institutions or students. Changes in state funding and in the Higher Education Price Index are shown for the 5-year period. In addition, the share of student or institutional aid received by each sector in each of the 2 years is shown, along with shares of state funds provided in student aid versus institutional aid at the beginning and end of this period. Also considered are: amounts and shares of institutional revenue from all sources, restricted and unrestricted funds combined; per-student costs and revenue indicators by sector and for subgroups of institutions within the SUNY state-operated and private sectors; and selected data for private colleges that receive Bundy aid.
