Sources, Methods and Triangulation in Needs Analysis: A Critical Perspective in a Case Study of Waikiki Hotel Maids.
Jasso-Aguilar, Rebeca
English for Specific Purposes, v18 n1 p27-46 1999
This study used qualitative methods, including observation, unstructured interviews, and questionnaires, for analyzing the vocational English-language-instruction needs of hotel maids. Methods and sources (maids, supervisor, executive housekeeper, human resources staff) were triangulated to determine reliability. An unbalanced distribution of power is found, and inclusion of a wider range of voices in needs assessment is recommended. (Author/MSE)
