AVR Teacher's Resource Guide for Solid Waste and Recycling Education.
Pedicord, Susan
Although there has been a number of teacher's guides for solid waste and recycling published, none have been specific to the state of Vermont or tailored to the needs of its teachers. This guide is designed to fill that need and is meant to give busy teachers a resource for integrating this important topic into their existing schedules and required courses. The guide is organized into four levels; grades K-3, 4-6, 7-8, and 9-12. Within each level, the activities are organized under three topics: (1) "What is Waste?," including origins, natural resources, and society; (2) "How Do We Manage Waste?," including waste handling and litter; and (3) "How Can We Reduce Waste?," including changing habits, recycling, and composting. An information section organized in the same manner as the activity section lists resources from the state of Vermont and national sources. Bibliographies for further readings are appended. (CW)
