Relationship between Childhood Peer Rejection and Aggression and Adolescent Delinquency Severity and Type among African American Youth.
Miller-Johnson, Shari; Coie, John D.; Maumary-Gremaud, Anne; Terry, Robert; Lochman, John
Journal of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, v7 n3 p137-46 Fall 1999
Sociometric surveys were completed at third grade for a low-socioeconomic status, urban sample of African-American youth, and delinquency data were gathered at grades 6, 8, and 10. For boys, the additive effect of childhood peer rejection and aggression predicted more serious delinquency, whereas for girls only aggression predicted more serious delinquency. Implications for intervention are drawn. (Author/DB)
