Eleven sections compose this comprehensive and exhaustive bibliography on the black family in urban areas. It is primarily designed as a reference for those who wish to learn more about the life of blacks in urban areas. The sections are selected black periodicals, selected general reference works, United States libraries with major black history book collections, government documents, reports and pamphlets, doctoral dissertations on the black family, black population by states, 50 cities with the largest black population, black newspapers in urban areas, books, and articles. This work deals with the following urban areas: New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Newark, Detroit, and San Francisco.
