Despite the pivotal role that science now plays in everyday life, and countless viable future career options for children, in many cases it is still considered less of a 'core subject' than its curriculum relatives -- namely English and maths. While this has been helped in recent years with a greater emphasis on STEM subjects, there is still some way to go in embedding the value of science into the culture of many schools, and especially at primary stage. One group of schools looking to take a hands-on approach to tackling this challenge is Focus Trust, a multi-academy trust based in North-West England and Yorkshire, consisting of 15 primary schools, which aims to create happy, safe and positive learning environments that can help children reach their full potential across all subjects.
