Enlisting the Collaboration of the Educational Technology Professional Community to Develop a Knowledge Management System of the Field: edutechKNOWiki
Bednar, Anne K.; Copeland, Nancy L.
Educational Media and Technology Yearbook
The field of educational technology evolves rapidly, increasing in complexity and sophistication; educators struggle to keep up to date. Current Internet development with Web 2.0 technology marks a paradigm shift in how the Internet is used, away from a depository of content information and toward a means of collaboration for knowledge sharing and building. Faculty from Eastern Michigan University's Educational Media and Technology program describes a nationwide collaboration and development of a knowledge management system which organizes information related to educational technology in the form of a wiki (http://edu-teKNOWiki.emich.edu (http://eduteKNOWiki.emich.edu)). This innovative system is an "open educational resource" for professional development. [For the complete volume, "Educational Media and Technology Yearbook, Volume 36, 2011," see ED597737.]
