Trends in Tuition and Other Basic Student Charges, 1963-64 through 1985-86 with Typical Student Costs, 1980-81 through 1984-85. Report No. 19-86.
State Univ. of New York, Albany. Central Staff Office of Institutional Research.
Data on tuition and other student costs for the State University of New York (SUNY) are presented, along with a brief narrative summary. Information is provided on: in-state and out-of-state tuition charges for graduate and undergraduate students, 1980-1986; trends in undergraduate and graduate student tuition and other charges by program level, 1963-1986; trends in tuition and required fees for each SUNY campus and for specialized colleges, 1980-1986; trends in basic student charges for undergraduate students, graduate students, students living in campus residence halls, and all other students, by campus, 1980-1986; and trends in the distribution of other basic student charges (books and supplies, transportation, personal, and miscellaneous) for students living in campus residence halls, students living in noninstitutional housing in the community, and commuter students, by campus, 1980-1986. The data show that tuition charges have not consistently increased but rather have gone in steps, remaining constant for a period of time, then making a jump. A standard college fee and student activity fee are charged to students in the state-operated institutions, excluding the statutory colleges. (SW)
