Increasing Minority Representation in the Teaching Profession through Alternative Certification: A Case Study.
Brennan, Sharon; Bliss, Traci
Teacher Educator, v34 n1 p1-11 Sum 1998
Describes a state university/public school system/state department of education partnership that created an alternative certification program for qualified post-baccalaureate minority candidates interested in teaching elementary students. Program evaluations indicate that the program is effectively meeting the need to reduce the disparity between minority teachers and minority students, and university and school personnel are committed to the program.
