A summary of developments in higher education in Ohio during 1979-1983 is presented by the Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents. Information is provided on: public and private college enrollments; full- and part-time enrollments; degrees awarded at public institutions; the number of full-time-equivalent faculty and staff employed by public institutions; physical plant space at public institutions; college operating appropriations by type of expenditure; buying power per student (i.e, instructional subsidies per headcount student); annual student fees for Ohio residents attending public institutions; and the higher education budget. Cooperation between secondary and higher education systems is considered with attention to: remediation studies, college preparation, early mathematics and English placement testing, the Handbook of Ohio Colleges and Universities; and vocational/technical education assessment. Additional topics include: educational quality (e.g., program review, new standards); staff activities to promote linkages with business, industry, and government; new organizations to link urban universities and their communities; the 1982 Higher Education Master Plan; management studies; a revised formula for distributing instructional subsidies; health manpower studies; health professions education; and student financial aid.
