The Emergence of the Northern Ojibwa: Social and Economic Consequences
Bishop, Charles A.
American Ethnologist, 3, 1, 39-54, Feb 76
In this paper, the author argues that patriclans existed among the precontact Ojibwa; demonstrates that segmentation has been a major process in group formation and dispersal throughout the contact period, and probably during prehistoric times as well; and provides new data illuminating the complexity of Amerindian sociocultural change during the postcontact period.
