In this reflective piece, I consider how COVID-19 has impacted the international education sector in New Zealand and, in particular, explore the potential benefits that might arise from the pandemic's disruptive effects, including the prospect of a new strategic approach that provides the basis for critical inquiry, student-centred practice and a fledgling international education specialist profession.
