Trends in Enrollment and Degrees Granted, 1948-1995. Report No. 7-96.
State Univ. of New York, Albany. Central Staff Office of Institutional Research.
This report contains statistical data for the period 1948-1995 covering credit course enrollment and degrees granted for the State University of New York system as a whole and its individual institutional components. Data are reported for individual institutions, by institutional type, and system-wide: enrollment data are point-in-time; degree-granted information covers a 12-month period. The extensive tables are grouped into those which cover: (1) the system as a whole; (2) individual university centers; (3) university colleges; (4) health sciences centers; (5) specialized colleges; (6) statutory colleges; (7) technology and agricultural colleges; and (8) community colleges. Data concerning degrees granted is by degree type (i.e., Associate, Bachelor's Master's, Doctoral, and First Professional). The report notes that interpretation of the data must consider the impact of the transfer of the community colleges sponsored by the New York City Board of Higher Education from the State University system to the City University. Two special tables--one that gives system-wide data with the community college component removed and the other which has analogous degree-granted information--cover this transfer of responsibility. Three appendixes include: a map of the system, a chronology of when individual institutions within the state system were established, and a publications list. (CH)
