Family Caregiving Systems: Models, Resources, and Values.
Keith, Carolyn
Journal of Marriage and the Family, v57 n1 p179-89 Feb 1995

Family size and gender composition appear to be important determinants of a system, and each is characterized by a predominant value (affiliation, equity, and emotional protection of offspring).
