Results of a counseling analogue study were that (a) the role manipulation was weak as subjects responded positively to interviewer references to self and others; and (b) while trustworthiness did not effect immediate influence, agreement with the interviewer increased over time for subjects interviewed under confidential condtions and decreased for subjects interviewed under unconfidential conditions.
