Receptive Language Anomaly and Language/Reading Dysfunction in "Normal" Primary-Grade School Children
Friedlander, Bernard Z.; De Lara, Hans Cohen
Psychology in the Schools, 10, 1, 12-18, Jan 73
The aspect of listening selected for study was the ability to select between speech that is clear and intelligible and speech that is degraded'' by interfering sounds to various degrees of unintelligibility. Results show that children prefer to listen to easily intelligible language, and children who do not establish clear listening patterns demonstrate a disability of receptive language organization resulting in language learning problems.
