Graduate Follow-up Study of Lakeland Community College Graduates, June, 1975.
Valvoda, Mary Alice; And Others
In order to determine what its graduates were doing immediately after graduation, Lakeland Community College distributed the "Student Outcomes Questionnaire for Program Completers" to all 463 potential June 1975 graduates just prior to graduation. In early 1976 it sent a copy of the questionnaire to those Associate in Applied Business (AAB) or Associate in Applied Science (AAS) graduates who had not completed it in June or who had indicated in June that they were still seeking a job. A 93.3% response rate was obtained. Highlights of the results were that: (1) 71% of the AA recipients, 21% of the AAB recipients, and 16% of the AAS recipients transferred to a four-year institution; (2) 13% of the AA recipients, 64% of the AAB recipients, and 69% of the AAS recipients were working in a job related to their field of study; (3) .5% of the AA recipients, 2.2% of the AAB recipients, and 3.4% of the AAS recipients were still seeking employment; (4) the mean number of years to graduation was 2.7 years; (5) the mean annual salary was $10,137; (6) Industrial Management graduates were the oldest (36), took the longest to complete their studies (3.4 years), had the highest rate of study-related employment (100%), and had the highest salaries ($17,400). Student characteristics (age, sex, ethnic origin, grade point average) are presented and the questionnaire is appended. (DC)
