Video Analysis of Muscle Motion
Foster, Boyd
Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, v17 n4 p11-12 Mar-Apr 2004
In this article, the author discusses how video cameras can help students in physical education and sport science classes successfully learn and present anatomy and kinesiology content at levels. Video analysis of physical activity is an excellent way to expand student knowledge of muscle location and function, planes and axes of motion, and training and performance application. Not only do video projects enhance learning, they bring technology into the classroom; allow students to prepare and deliver on-camera presentations so that they can critique themselves; give students insight into their teaching performance; and, provide an opportunity to identify and address areas of weakness. Film analyses of weight room or sport activities can be used as part of student portfolios to show application of knowledge to practical settings and to demonstrate the ability to prepare and present information in a professional manner. In addition, video projects can be utilized with great success to suit the content and ability of any group of students. (Contains 1 figure.)
