Personal Characteristics of Volunteer Phone Counselors
Tapp, Jack T.; Spanier, Deborah
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 41, 2, 245-249, Oct 73
Comparisons between volunteer telephone counselors and nonvolunteer college students were made on several psychological tests: the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale, the Personal Orientation Inventory, and the Self-Disclosure Questionnaire. In their self-concepts, the groups differed only in moral-ethical self perceptions. The counselors' scores suggested that they were more self actualizing and more open than the college group.
