V-TECS Guide for Medical Assistant.

This V-TECS (Vocational-Technical Consortium of States) Guide is an extension or continuation of the V-TECS catalog for the occupation of medical assistant. The guide is designed to help South Carolina teachers to promote the art of learning while teaching subject matter. The guide addresses the three domains of learning: psychomotor, cognitive, and affective. This guide contains seven units of study that cover the following aspects of the medical assistant occupation: general office procedures, office management, accounting, government forms, insurance and other financial reports, laboratory procedures, sterilization and aseptic techniques, and clinical office procedures. Each unit contains several performance objectives, each including task, standard of performance of task, source of standard, conditions for performance of task, enabling objectives, resources, teaching activities, checklists, and criterion-referenced measures. Appendixes provide a task list and job titles; definitions of terms; equipment and tools list; and bibliography compiled by the South Carolina writing team. (KC)
