A Descriptive Correlation Study of Grit in a Small Sample of Northeast Texas Administrators
Linda Rankin
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Lamar University - Beaumont
This descriptive correlation design study examined levels of grit and other demographic data of administrators in northeast Texas public schools. The study focused on administrators employed at the time of the study in an administrative position in a public PK-12 district in northeast Texas. More research was needed to be conducted regarding grit levels in educational administrators and correlations between grit and other attributes. Four research questions guided the exploration of the grit levels of the study participants. From the population of educational administrators in the Region 8 Education Service Center area, 93 valid survey responses were collected. The survey results were examined and analyzed to explore various grit, perseverance of effort, and consistency of interest levels in the participants. Additionally, correlation analysis between grit and demographic characteristics was computed. However, no statistically significant correlations were identified between grit and any of the demographics collected. The study is beneficial because it adds to the research regarding grit in educational administrators and relationships between grit levels and demographics.
