Therapy in Motion.
Costonis, Maureen Needham, Ed.
This book contains a collection of articles on the subject of movement therapy. It can be used as a set of supplementary readings for an academic course in dance therapy or a psychiatric residency program. It includes an exhaustive bibliography on this field for students and practioners in this field. Four principal themes have been selected as a framework for the essays. Part one develops the thesis that movement therapy can reorient a client whose nonverbal communication system is malfunctioning. Part two focuses on research on movement therapy's ability to expand the individual's movement repertoire. In part three movement researchers explore the effects of movement therapy on body concept. The final section presents samples of various therapist's styles of interaction with clients and some narratives of actual experiences. (JD)
