The Core Curricula of Information Systems Undergraduate Programs: A Survey of AACSB-Accredited Colleges in the United States
Yang, Samuel C.
Journal of Education for Business, v91 n5 p1-9 2016
The author examines the present state of information systems undergraduate programs in the United States. He reviewed 516 institutions and collected data on 234 institutions offering information systems (IS) undergraduate programs. Of seven core courses required by the IS 2010 curriculum model, four are required by more than 50% of the programs, but a descriptive model based on present results deviates from the IS 2010 model by only one course. Also, the adoption of the present top five commonly required courses has increased since 1991. Thus from the perspective of required core courses, IS undergraduate programs have largely come to an agreement on a set of core areas of knowledge.
