Presents a pilot course for the Collaboration in Virtual Space (CiVS) project at Middlebury College. After reading and discussing Bernhard Schlink's "Der Vorleser," students produced in collaborative groups a Web site with information on Schlink, the text's cultural-historical background, and its reception, and they developed an interactive, annotated "Vorleser"-program on the Web. Suggests that the project encourages content-based and student-centered teaching. (VWL)
