The summary report "Statewide Test Results, Summary Report, Spring 1989" provided educators and the general public with information about the Delaware Educational Assessment Program (DEAP) and the performance of Delaware public school students on the Stanford Achievement Test, Eighth Edition (Stanford 8). This appendix disaggregates the state-level test data to provide a better picture of how various subgroups of students performed on the statewide tests. The objective is to identify some of the inequities that need to be addressed. A total of 58,371 students in grades 1 through 8 and grade 11 from 17 districts completed the basic battery. Scores are reported by: (1) sex; (2) racial and ethnic category (White, Black, Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaskan Native, or unspecified); (3) special education and handicapping condition (educable mentally handicapped, socially-emotionally maladjusted, or learning disabled); and (4) Chapter 1 (educationally disadvantaged) status. Student identification information was extracted from a tracking file maintained by the DEAP. Scores are reported in Normal Curve Equivalents and are provided for total reading, total language, total mathematics, thinking skills, and basic battery. Students in grade 11 were asked to identify their current high school program as college preparatory, vocational, or general. Fourteen tables and three bar graphs present the student data. (SLD)
