Reduce Toxic Exposures: Get Involved and Take Action!
Exceptional Parent, v36 n5 p58-60 May 2006
There is a growing concern about the connection between many chemical exposures and learning and other developmental disabilities (LDD). National and local groups are developing new programs around the country that are making this connection--and taking action with regard to policy, education and research efforts. They are working towards reducing toxic exposures at home, school and work that may lead to LDDs or that have other adverse health effects such as asthma or cancer. This article presents five examples of organizations that have started programs on this topic and welcome public participation. By getting involved, people can learn more and better protect their families from toxic chemical exposures in everyday life.
