Severe Weather
Forde, Evan B.
Science Scope, v27 n7 p33-35 Apr 2004
Educating the public about safety issues related to severe weather is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) mission. This month's insert, Severe Weather, has been created by NOAA to help educate the public about hazardous weather conditions. The four types of severe weather highlighted in this poster are hurricanes, flash floods, lightning, and tornadoes. In addition to including scientific principles directly related to meteorology, this poster addresses and reinforces key scientific elements connected to physical, Earth, and space science, and examines how the ability to conduct meaningful scientific advances in meteorology has been enhanced and improved through technological advancements.
