Laser Electro-Optic Engineering Technology. Florida Vocational Program Guide.
University of South Florida, Tampa. Dept. of Adult and Vocational Education.
This program guide identifies particular considerations in the organization, operation, and evaluation of laser electro-optic engineering technology programs. Contents include an occupational description and information on the following: program content, including a curriculum framework that details major concepts and intended outcomes and a list of student performance standards in 14 areas. The next section addresses key factors that must be considered when implementing this program: teacher characteristics, student admissions criteria, cooperative education, and student organization participation. A section on instructional resources lists suggested resources under each outcome shown in the curriculum framework. Facilities materials cover design recommendations and safety, maintenance, and liability. A suggested equipment list is followed by lists of tools and items of equipment, organized by each outcome, corresponding to the curriculum framework. Professional development material includes information on teacher technical updating and teacher standards and addresses of professional organizations and support services. A Career Merit Achievement Plan is attached. It displays the student performance standards required for entry into the field of laser electro-optic engineering and provides for documentation of students' level of achievement. (YLB)
