Volume II, Section A of a six-volume final report (which covers the findings of a research project on policy and technology related to rehabilitation of disabled individuals) presents a review of literature on three types of motor disabilities--stroke, spinal cord injury, and cerebral palsy. Individual chapters on each disability cover the following: definitions and classifications; prevalence, incidence, mortality, and cost estimates; demographic distribution; etiology; life functioning deficits in the areas of health, mobility, communication, cognitive-intellectual functioning, and social-attitudinal functioning; functioning as members of the community and labor force; technologies currently applied; and characteristics of the delivery system impacting the disability group. Bibliographies are also provided for each disability area. (SBH)
