Leisure Time Safety: Fun, Fun, Fun! Proceed with Caution: Consumer Safety in the Home, VI.
Saskatchewan Consumer and Commercial Affairs, Regina.
Exercising caution during recreational activities will ensure that vacations and holidays do not result in tragedy. This booklet outlines some of the activities that require caution. Proper procedures for cycling--including the use of all terrain vehicles (ATVs), roller skating, and skateboarding are illustrated. Swimming can continue to be pleasurable if care is exercised in the installation and maintenance of swimming pools. Proper fencing around pools is required to protect neighborhood children. By installing nonslip surfacing around the decks and walkways, many falls and accidents can be prevented. When enjoying the great outdoors--boating, camping, outdoor cooking, and hunting--being aware of the dangers can ensure pleasure and continued enjoyment. Increased awareness in purchasing and using exercise equipment is emphasized. (SM)
