Parental Involvement and Academic Achievement
Goodwin, Sarah Christine
ProQuest LLC, Ed.S. Dissertation, Brenau University
This research study examined the correlation between student achievement and parent's perceptions of their involvement in their child's schooling. Parent participants completed the Parent Involvement Project Parent Questionnaire. Results slightly indicated parents of students with higher level of achievement perceived less demand or invitations from their child and that students with higher levels of academic achievement had parents who felt they had the time, energy, or skills to assist with school related activities. The results strongly indicate that students with higher levels of achievement had parents who reported higher levels of involvement in school related activities.
